2005 Lincoln Town Car

What they drive

You can admit it; I don't mind. You think I'm crazy for daring to commingle two cars that couldn't be more radically different in terms of both form and function. One's a two-door coupe; the other's a four-door sedan. One's a high-performance grand-touring car; the other's a thinly disguised limousine. One's a German BMW, for crying out loud; the other's an American Lincoln.

But the fact of the matter is this: Both the BMW 645Ci and the Lincoln Town Car "Signature L" are unapologetically designed as luxury cars for a rich clientle. And both are very good at what they are designed to do, as well as very awkward at tasks unsuited for them. The rich, we persist in pointing out, are different from the likes of you and me. On the evidence of cars made for rich people to buy, I'd have to conclude that the rich are very different from one another as well.
